BDB is supporting the family of Billie Bainbridge, who are raising money for a very sick child. BDB is not endorsing any clinic or any particular form of treatment, but simply supporting a friend who is raising money for his ill niece. The choice of treatment is up to the family.
The charity has made this statement:
Billie Butterfly Fund is fully aware that this is pioneering or experimental treatment, and has attracted some scepticism, but that is true of any experimental treatment. The clinic is currently undergoing FDA-approved trials.
Billie's parents know this is a long shot, but were not prepared to sit back and do nothing when there is a small chance this treatment could save her life. The treatment is expensive, but that is not unusual for medical treatment in the US. Any money raised that is not used on Billie's treatment will go directly to research into child brain cancer in this country, in the hope that there may be better support or treatment for children like Billie in the future.
